    INTRODUCTION The Welch Allyn 767 SureTemp 4™ is a wall mounted thermistor thermometer to be used for measuring patient temperatures ranging from 84 °F to 108 °F (28.9 °C to 42.2 °C). Oral and rectal probes utilize single-use dis- posable probe covers which limit cross-contamination.

    MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS Existing 76710 or 76720 installation: Unplug the 767 wall transformer from the wall outlet. Remove the 76710 or 76720 wall transformer from its mounting plate by pushing upwards on the unit and pulling it away from the wall mounting plate. BACKPLATE TO POWER...
  • Page 9 Fasten the 767 SureTemp 4 thermometer to the 76710 or 76720 wall transformer as follows: Align the thermometer attachment plate within the groove on the back of the main unit. Line up the electrical contact blades with the corresponding blade openings on the main housings.
  • Page 10 Follow the Mounting Instructions found in the 767 Diagnos- tic System owner’s manual to attach the mounting plate to the wall. Fasten the 767 SureTemp 4 thermometer to the 76710 or 76720 wall transformer as follows: Align the thermometer attachment plate within the groove on the back of the main unit.
  • Page 11 767 SURETEMP 4 MODULE MAIN UNIT CONNECTION BLADES Slide the 767 SureTemp 4 thermometer into the main unit until the gap between the devices is closed. Secure the thermometer in place, as shown using the two Philips head screws provided.

    SETUP Install supplied Oral probe or optional Rectal probe by inserting the latching plug on the end of the coiled cord into plug receptacle on the unit. The plug snaps into place and cannot be removed without depressing the latch. (Figure 1). Insert probe shaft completely into probe storage channel.

    FEATURES & DISPLAY INDICATORS • Normal Mode: The thermometer takes oral temperatures in about 4 seconds and rectal temperatures in about 15 seconds. The unit will always operate in Normal mode unless the Mode button is depressed for more than 2 seconds (with probe removed from the channel) which changes it to Monitor Mode.

    Error Codes: If an error code is displayed, refer to the troubleshooting section of your technical manual or contact the Diatek Customer Service Department.     TAKING RECTAL TEMPERATURES - RED CAPPED PROBE 1. Exchange the oral probe (blue ejection button) for the rectal probe (red ejection button) by removing the probe from the storage channel, unplugging the probe connector from the thermometer, and repeating steps 1 through 6 in the SETUP section.

    4. When the final tempera- ture is reached, a tone will sound and the tem- perature will be dis- played. Rectal tempera- ture measurements will take about 15 seconds. 5. After the temperature measurement is complete, remove the probe from the patient, then eject the probe cover by firmly pressing the ejection button on the probe.

    TAKING AXILLARY TEMPERATURES - BLUE CAPPED PROBE Axillary temperatures should only be taken when the 767 SureTemp 4™ is in the Monitor mode with an oral probe. 1. Set the thermometer to the Monitor mode. Attach a probe cover onto the probe.

    CLEANING & STERILIZATION The 767 SureTemp 4™ housings may be cleaned with a cloth dampened with alcohol, warm water, or a nonstaining disin- fectant such as Sporicidin® Spray and Towelettes or MetriSpray™. Care should be taken not to scratch the LCD faceplate.
