9020 Users' Manual
CORE MODE
This mode converts the tympanic temperature to
display its "core equivalent." Use this mode in
areas where esophageal or pulmonary artery
temperatures are now used. The normal range
of core temperature is 98.2°F to 100.2°F
(36.8°C to 37.9°C).
RECTAL MODE
This mode converts the tympanic temperature to
display its "rectal equivalent." Use this mode
where glass or electronic rectal thermometers
are now used. The normal range of rectal
temperature is 98.6°F to 100.6°F
(37.0°C to 38.1°C).
SURFACE MODE
This mode measures the temperatures of
different surface areas. Pressing the SCAN
button activates the infrared sensor and displays
the continuous radiated temperatures. The
thermometer shows the last temperature read
when the SCAN button is released, or when 30
seconds has elapsed (a double beep sounds).
TEST MODE (
NOT AN OPERATION MODE)
This mode displays an unadjusted temperature.
The test mode is used exclusively to test or
calibrate the 9020 thermometer using the
WELCH ALLYN‚ 9600 Calibration Tester.
Please note that this function is accessed by a
special procedure described in the 9600
Operation Manual.
