When the switch is powered on, it performs its diagnostic self test. The
test completes in approximately 20 seconds.

LED Behavior:

During the self test:
Initially, all LEDs are on, except the Fdx mode indicator LED. The two
•
100 LEDs are also not on initially, but turn on after a few seconds. This
allows you to verify that all the LEDs are working. You can test the
Fdx mode indicator LED during this period by pressing the Mode
Select button once; the Fdx LED comes on and the Act LED goes off.
Pressing the Mode Select button again brings the Act LED back on.
• The Port LEDs then blink off momentarily then go into their normal
operational mode as described below.
• The Port Mode LEDs are lit quickly in sequence at the end of the self
test.
When the self test completes successfully:
• The Power LED remains on.
The Fault LED on the switch goes off.
•
• The port LEDs go into their normal operational mode:
– If the ports are connected to active network devices, the Link
LEDs stay on and the Mode LEDs behave according to the mode
selected.
– If the ports are not connected to active network devices, the LEDs
will stay off.
If the LED display is different than what is described above, especially if
the Fault LED stays on for more than 30 seconds or flashes, the self test
has not completed correctly. Refer to chapter 3, "Troubleshooting" for
diagnostic help.
