Solving Screen Problems

Problem
Characters on
computer display
are dim.
Screen is blank.
Computer beeps*
4 times when
turned on,
power/suspend
light is on, but
screen is blank.
Graphics
accelerator does
not work.

Solving Screen Problems
Possible Cause
Computer is in
direct light.
Screen brightness
is set low.
QuickBlank is
enabled.
Suspend
(Standby) is
initiated.
Hibernation is
initiated.
Computer is off.
Memory expansion
board is installed
incorrectly.
Memory expansion
board or memory
circuitry has failed.
A graphics
accelerator cannot
be enabled while
text stretch mode is
set to Regular.
Solution
Move the computer or tilt the
display.
To access screen brightness
adjustments, press the Fn+F10
hotkeys.
NOTE: For more information
about setting screen
brightness, refer to "Setting
Power Preferences" in
Chapter 5.
Enter the power-on password.
Press the suspend button.
Slide the power switch.
Slide the power switch.
Remove, then reinstall memory
expansion board as instructed
in Chapter 13.
Contact your Compaq
authorized service provider.
Press the Fn+T hotkeys to
toggle the text stretching mode
from Regular to Text Stretch.
