3. Configuration

3.1. Enable DNA in B&R Automation Studio
1.
Start B&R Automation Studio and create a new project. Make sure B&R Automation Studio is updated to
support the DNA functionality.
2.
Add your PLC to the project. Make sure the PLC supports the DNA functionality. In this example, the B&R
X20CP1684 PLC is used.
3.
Upload the XDD-file from the Anybus CompactCom 40 POWERLINK using the HMS POWERLINK XDD File
Uploader.
NOTE
The file uploader requires the Anybus CompactCom 40 POWERLINK to have a node number not
equal to 0.
NOTE
The HMS POWERLINK XDD File Uploader can be downloaded from the HMS website:
www.anybus.com/support
4.
Import the Anybus CompactCom 40 POWERLINK XDD-file under Tools -> Manage 3
Devices...
5.
Select the PLC and open configuration for the POWERLINK port (IF3 in this case).
6.
Select manual DNA configuration.
NOTE
The DNA configuration of the PLC must be set to manual when using DNA devices from third
party devices, e.g. the HMS Anybus CompactCom 40.
7.
In the System Designer view, connect the Anybus CompactCom 40 POWERLINK to the desired module
according to the topology.
8.
Select the Anybus CompactCom 40 POWERLINK and open configuration.
