You can also configure the storage system to act as a DHCP server. In
other words, the storage system can assign IP addresses to other
computers in your network, simplifying the network configuration of
each individual system.
Your storage system can act as an FTP server. You can select to enable
FTP server in the Network page to allow all Windows and Mac OS X
users to use a Web browser to access the public folder. For more
information, refer to "Accessing shared folders" on page 183.
You can use the Network page to configure the system for link
aggregation; also known as IEEE 802.3ad. Link aggregation allows you
to configure multiple Ethernet ports to act as a single device.
However, you must install an additional PCI Express network card. For
detailed instructions on how to install an additional PCI Express
network card, refer to "To install a PCI Express network card on page
252.
Note: The 802.3ad mode for bandwidth aggregation requires
802.3ad support from the switch or client. Both network ports
must be connected to the same switch.
In addition, your storage system supports UPnP discovery protocol and
can be discovered by Windows OS knowing UPnP protocol. You have
the option to enable or disable the UPnP discovery protocol support in
the Network page.
