4. Warm-up
Allow the engine to idle for at least 30
seconds after starting. Drive at moder-
ate speed for a short distance first, es-
pecially in cold weather.
CAUTION
Excessive temperature can damage
exhaust system.
Do not idle at high speed for more
than 5 minutes.
NOTE
On vehicles equipped with automatic
transmission, fuel is automatically
cut off when the engine is "racing"
(running at high speed) with selector
lever position "P" or "N".
NOTE
If the engine has become flooded dur-
ing starting, slowly depress the ac-
celerator pedal fully, hold it in this
position and start the engine.
Engine block heater*
Your vehicle is designed to install the engine
block heater.
The hole for installation of the heater is lo-
cated in the engine block under the intake
manifold and it is covered with a plug.
The engine block heater can help warm the
engine block area for improved cold weather
starting. It can also help reduce fuel con-
sumption when a cold engine is warning up.
To install the engine block heater, consult
your Daewoo Dealer.

IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM*
The Daewoo Immobilizer System provides an
additional theft deterrent to the vehicle in
which it is installed and prevents it from be-
ing started by unauthorized persons.
When the ignition key is turned to the LOCK
position, the immobilizer indicator lamp lo-
cated in the left side of digital clock will flash
and the immobilizer system will activate. If
this indicator lamp is not flash when the key
is turned to the LOCK position, have the
system checked by Daewoo Dealer.
The valid key for a vehicle equipped with a
Daewoo Immobilizer System is a mechani-
cal ignition key with integrated transponder,
which is electronically coded. The transpon-
der is placed invisibly in the ignition key.
Only valid ignition keys can be used to start
the engine.
Invalid keys may only open the doors. The
immobilizer system isolates the power sup-
ply to the ignition system, fuel pump and fuel
injectors.
If the immobilizer system does not recognize
the electronic code when you turn the igni-
tion key to START, the engine will not start
and the security indicator will keep blinking;
• Turn the iginition key to OFF and restart
the engine after about 5 seconds.
