Cause
The platen unit or toner supply is not
closed correctly.
There is a paper jam.
A document has been left on the platen
glass.
Memory is getting low during scanning
because the document has many graphics
or photos.
The paper in the paper drawer has run out,
the toner has run out, the paper jams have
occured, or the paper size setting is wring
while the report is printing.
The document has stopped in the ADF
because you pressed Stop/Reset while
scanning.
No paper is loaded in the paper drawer or
stack bypass.
An error of some kind has occurred in the
machine.
The toner is empty.
The toner inside the toner cartridge is
running low.
A waste toner in the drum unit is full.
Action
Slide the platen unit to the original position, or close
the toner supply cover.
Clear the paper jam (→ pp. 6-1 to 6-3) and reload
paper in the paper drawer or stack bypass.
Remove or change the document from the platen glass.
When memory space becomes available as printing
continues, the scanning resumes automatically.
Load paper in the paper drawer, replace the toner
cartridge with a new one, remove the jammed paper, or
specify the correct paper size, and reprint the report.
Press OK to make the document come out
automatically.
Load paper in the paper drawer or stack bypass
(→ pp. 2-3, 2-5). Make sure the paper stack in the
paper drawer or stack bypass does not exceed the
height of the length guide's claws or the paper limit
guides respectively. (→ pp. 2-3, 2-5)
If you load paper while making copies, do not load a
different paper size.
Unplug the machine from the power supply and wait
for 10 minutes, then plug it in again. If this does not
solve the problem, unplug the machine and call your
service representative.
Replace the toner cartridge with a new one.

Prepare a new toner cartridge, or replace the toner
cartridge with a new one. (→ pp. 5-4)
Replace the drum unit with a new one. (→ pp. 5-6)
