7.

Emergency Situations

Please follow the below instructions in case of an emergency,

7.1 Emergency Handling Plan

Disconnect the Main Switch Energy Storage (Battery) within the switchboard
Disconnect the Main Switch Normal Supply of the building/premises.
Please record every detail related to the fault, so your system provider/
AlphaESS can analyse and offer suitable resolution. Any operation of
equipment during a fault is strictly forbidden, please contact Alpha as soon as
possible.
The battery cells are designed with explosion-proof valves and retain very small
amounts of Oxygen thereby reducing the risk of an explosion.
When the indicator +light on the battery shows a red fault, check the fault type
(Section 5.2) and contact your after-sales service personnel for advice.
Please follow emergency handling plan and contact 1300 968 933 for further
assistance.

7.2 Fire

In case of fires, only firefighters with appropriate Protective Equipment are
permitted to access the Battery installation area. Please ensure that the following
equipment is available near the system.
SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) and protective gear in compliance
with the Directive on Personal Protective Equipment 89/686/EEC.
Novec 1230, FM-200, or dioxide extinguisher.
Note: ABC extinguishers are not effective when the battery pack is on fire.
Batteries may explode when heated above 150°C. If possible, move the battery
pack to a safe area before it catches fire.

7.3 Leaking Batteries

The battery pack is composed of multiple batteries and designed to prevent the
danger caused by malfunction. If the battery pack leaks electrolyte due to shell
damage, avoid contact with leaking liquid or gas. If one is exposed to the leaked
substance, immediately perform the following actions.
Inhalation: Evacuate the contaminated area and seek medical attention.
Contact with eyes: Rinse eyes with running water for 5 minutes and seek
medical attention.
Contact with skin: Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water and
seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Induce vomiting and seek medical attention.
