3 Using the Unit

Use only a spark plug of the type approved by
STIHL and make sure it is in good condition –
see "Specifications".
Inspect the ignition lead (insulation in good con‐
dition, secure connection).
Check the condition of the muffler.
To reduce the risk of fire, do not operate your
machine if the muffler is damaged or missing –
there is also a risk of hearing damage.
Do not touch a hot muffler since burn injury will
result.
Shut off the engine
– before inspecting the cutting attachment
– before sharpening the cutting attachment
– before replacing the cutting attachment
– before rectifying problems.
Observe sharpening instructions and wear limits
– always keep the cutting attachment in good
condition (clean, free from rust and burrs, prop‐
erly sharpened), securely mounted and free from
cracks.
Replace the cutting attachment in good time.
Store fuel in properly labelled, safety-type canis‐
ters only. When handling gasoline, avoid direct
contact with the skin and avoid inhaling fuel
vapor – health risk.
3 Using the Unit
3.1 Intended Use
Use your palm cutter only for cutting the fronds
of oil palms and harvesting fruit.
– The palm cutter with chisel is designed for har‐
vesting up to a height of 1.80 meters.
– The palm cutter with sickle is designed for har‐
vesting up to a height of 5 meters.

NOTICE
Incorrect handling can damage the unit. The
PC 75 may be used with the chisel only when the
telescoping shaft is fully compressed.
WARNING
Operate the unit only if the cutting attachment is
in good condition, correctly sharpened and
undamaged. Operating with a damaged or
cracked cutting attachment (e.g. cracks in area
of cutting edge) can result in breakage – risk of
accidents.
NOTICE
The cutting attachment performs rapid recipro‐
cating movements during operation – take care
not to damage any palm fronds, fruit bunches or
palm stems.
3.2 Preparations
► Wear suitable protective clothing, observe
safety precautions.
► Adjust the telescoping shaft to the required
length.
The PC 75 may be used with the chisel only
when the telescoping shaft is fully com‐
pressed.
