Keysight's universal optical interface allows users to adapt optical test
instrumentation to a multitude of optical connector standards.
The new ceramic sleeve has been reinforced to combine robustness with
greater precision and less wear. The most popular connector interfaces,
used for FC/PC and FC/APC connectors, are now equipped with the new
technology.

A new ceramic sleeve centers the instrument's ferrule to the attached
connector's ferrule, ensuring nearly wear-free and abrasion free
alignment.

A groove on the knurled outer ring of the screw-on interface
differentiates the new adapter from the current adapters that are
equipped with a metal sleeve.
•
Metallic sleeves have been considered the most abuse-forgiving
alignment solution. However, metal surfaces inside the tube wear and
leave contamination at the most critical place, the optical connector
plane. Over time, metal sleeves open up enough to degrade the
connection alignment.

The new removable/replaceable connector interface N7742xl allows the
use the fiber according to connector style preference. These connectors
are only available on the N7742C and N7743C instruments. The connector
adapters support FC, SC, LC and ST connectors and are individually
configurable.
