    Introduction The information in this manual covers the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Roughneck® V920D Impact-Resistant Dome Cameras. These units should only be installed by a qualified technician using common hand tools and approved materials and wiring methods in accordance with the national Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, state and local wiring codes.

    Installation Unpacking and Inspection All Vicon equipment is tested and inspected before leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to deliver the equipment in the same condition as it left the factory. Inspection for Visible Damage Immediately inspect the cartons upon delivery. Make a note of any visible damage on all copies of the carrier’s freight bill.

    Accessory Kit There is an accessory kit included with the Roughneck V920D. The table below lists the contents. Description Quantity Torx wrench (to remove tamperproof screws) Pipe sealant tape (to seal pipe fitting to housing) Screws, anchors and rubber washers (for some 4 of each appropriate installations) Vent plug (for outdoor installations)
  • Page 11 Note: Failure to thoroughly coat threads will result in moisture entering the housing and eventual failure of the unit. Note: For outdoor installations, Vicon recommends that the vent plug should only be used if fogging conditions exist. Additionally, if the side cable access hole is used, the base must be mounted so the hole is pointed directly downward.
  • Page 12 Note: To assure a watertight seal, apply silicone sealant around the area where the base meets the wall or ceiling. Vicon recommends Dow Corning® 737 neutral cure sealant or equivalent. Seal around the housing base tightly using the silicone.

    7. The camera/lens assembly can be adjusted to the desired position. Do not move the camera/lens assembly by holding onto the lens. For pan and tilt adjustment, move the camera mechanism in desired direction. For roll adjustment (turns camera position top/bottom), turn the gimbal in the desired direction.

    Camera Operation After all cabling is complete, the camera and lens can be setup. The camera/lens is set through an OSD menu system using the joystick control. A. Up B. Right C. Down D. Left E.   • Page 19 2. Picture Adjust Function This menu provides functions that enable users to easily adjust the image quality to suit the image output device used. A sliding scale shows the value for each Brightness - The image brightness can be adjusted, where a higher number produces a brighter image.

  • Page 22 11. MAINTENANCE W. PIX MASK The white pixel detection and compensation function can automatically detect and compensate up to 64 white pixels (static detection). It is recommended that this be set to Auto and not modified. AUTO Auto mode performs the optimal operation for detecting white pixels and automatically detects the white pixels of CCD image sensors.
  • Page 23 <ADVANCED MENU> 12. SHUTTER/AGC AEME (Auto Exposure/Manual Exposure) selection (shutter/AGC). This control adjusts the exposure amount using the shutter speed. 12-1. AUTO Select to perform exposure control automatically. AE LEVEL (Auto Exposure Level) Set the AE level using the sliding scale. Set exposure control so that the output level (evaluation value) is the target brightness level (AE reference level).

Compensation may be performed incorrectly since this control is easily affected by deeply colored subjects.     Maintenance The Roughneck V920D Impact-Resistant Cameras require no scheduled maintenance except for the occasional cleaning of the lower dome. Care and Cleaning of Lower Dome The inside surface of the smoked (gray-tinted) dome is easily scratched. Take the following precautions to maintain the dome’s surface.
