Due to the damaging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric motors of other users on the mains, this product
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already incorporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please verify that a Low Voltage Surge Protection Device according
EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.
High leakage current:
The combination of multiple tiles in an installation results in increased levels of leakage current. In order to avoid risk of electric
shock due to high leakage current, proper grounding of the installation is required.
Flammable materials:
Keep flammable materials away from the installation (such as curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. The installation
should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised. Proper ventilation must
be provided.
Risk of electric shock / Risk of fire:
The X2.8R tile requires 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz, 0,6A at 230VAC to function.
To protect against risk of fire caused by overloading of power cables:
When working on 200-240VAC, a MAXIMUM of 14 tiles may be connected in 1 chain. Each power source cable supplying
MAXIMUM 14 tiles should be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses rated:
-
16 A / 250 VAC (EU/APAC)
-
15 A / 250 VAC (USA/Canada)
When working on 100-120VAC, a MAXIMUM of 10 tiles may be connected in 1 chain. Each power source cable supplying
MAXIMUM 10 tiles should be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses rated:
-
15 A / 250 VAC (USA/Canada)
The power limits of the used power connectors needs to be followed. A C13/C14 connector is limited to 10A. An Amphenol connector
is limited to 16A.
ESD and LED's:
LED components used in X2.8R tiles are ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) sensitive. To prevent the possibility of destroying LED
components do not touch either in operation or while switched off. Always use ESD-gloves.
Disconnect device:
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets supplying the rack shall be installed near the
equipment and be easily accessible, or a readily accessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
This equipment MUST be earthed:
In order to protect against risk of electric shock, the installation should be properly grounded. Defeating the purpose of the grounding
type plug will expose you to the risk of electric shock.
Power system:
It is recommended to use a TN-S power distribution system (a power distribution system with a separate neutral and grounding
conductor) in order to avoid large ground current loops due to voltage differences in the neutral conductor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and Ground Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation codes. In Europe special attention
should be given to HD 60364, Harmonization Document for electrical installation of buildings. In Germany VDE 0100 should be
adhered to. In America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Mains cords:
The power cords delivered with this system have special properties for safety. They are not user serviceable. If the power cords are
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a power cord.
LEDs:
The LEDs used on the X2.8R tiles are fragile. Never push with a hard or sharp object onto the lens of the LED as this may cause
damage to the LED. The maximum allowed load upon the lens of the LED is 300 gram/LED. Be careful when installing a shader
upon the X2.8R tiles. Shaders only fit in one direction and this should be verified before pushing into final position. Use your bare
fingers (not nails) to press the shader over the LEDs. Use your finger nails to press upon the framework of the shader between the
LEDs (not upon the LEDs) to push the shader in its final position.
Do not hot plug:
Do not hot plug any cables. Damage to the connector pins may occur. Resulting damage is not covered under warranty.
Maximum allowed display height:
The maximum height of a X2.8R display is limited: maximum 12 tiles high standing and maximum 25 tiles high for a hanging con-
figuration.
The maximum height of the X2.8R display in a base stand configuration can be reduced depending on the wind load, the friction
coefficient, the position of the LED-wall, and the weight of the complete display. Use the LED-wall Ballast Calculator (version 10
or later) to determine the maximum height of the X2.8R display and the required ballast to prevent tipping or sliding of the X2.8R
display. The LED-wall Ballast Calculator is available on my.barco.com.
