3. Safety Precautions
WARNING
Battery electrolyte is hazardous.
Battery electrolyte contains dilute sulfuric acid. When checking the battery
electrolyte level and replenishing the battery electrolyte, wear rubber gloves and
protective goggles. If the battery electrolyte touches the eye, skin, clothes, etc.,
immediately wash it off with a large amount of water. Particularly, if the battery
electrolyte touches the eye, it may cause loss of eyesight. Immediately wash the
eye with a large amount of water, and take doctor's diagnosis. Never attempt to
lick or drink it. Such an action may result in death.
WARNING
Do not disconnect the cable from the outlet during battery charging.
If you disconnect the cable from the outlet during battery charging, hydrogen gas
generated during charging may catch a spark, resulting in explosion.
CAUTION
Do not use a battery charger other than that included in the forklift.
If you use a battery charger incompatible with the battery for the forklift, the
battery charger may overheat, emit smoke and catch fire. If you touch the
battery charger in such conditions, you may get burns.
CAUTION
Be careful not to confuse the + and - terminals.
When connecting the cable to the battery terminals, be careful not to connect
the positive and negative terminals in reverse. Incorrect connection of the
cable results in damage to the electric circuit. Also, the battery may generate
heat, and you may get burns.
CAUTION
Connect the cable securely.
Loose connection of the cable to the battery terminals, or using the battery with
corrosion of the battery terminals causes the battery to emit sparks and generate
heat, and you may get burns.
CAUTION
Do not put a tool on the battery.
If you put a tool on the battery, the tool may touch the terminals, causing the
terminals to be short-circuited, which may result in explosion of the battery.
