3.3 Using the SDK0107 Development Board with the EDG0108 Module

The existing Enabler II-G development board, SDK0107, can be used with the new EDG0108 module. Due
to the minor pin changes, certain procedures will need to be followed for proper operation.

High = Module Run

Low = Module OFF
High Pulse = Module Reset
Float = No reset;
Low = No reset;
Currently this input can only be used to
turn the module ON. Code to turn the
module OFF is not in the standard
software release.
When the modem is OFF, a high-to-low
pulse of > 100 mS will turn the modem
ON.
When the modem is ON, a high-to-low
pulse of > XXX mS will deregister from
the network and turn the modem OFF.
XXX is > 100 mS and can be configured
via AT Command for pulses up to 10,000
mS.

On GSM0107/0108, the
PWRDN_RADIO input controlled an
internal power switch that physically
disconnected power to a majority of the
module.
On EDG0108, this pin (22) is now a
"module hardware reset input". This
input is "active high". It can be left
floating if the user does not want to
control "reset" or grounded. To reset, a
high-pulse of at least 50 mS will
reset/restart the module.
If GSM0107/0108 customer had
this pin pulled high with resistor,
don't stuff resistor and it will work
for all designs.
If GSM0107/0108 customer was
using this pin for power control,
they should use Pin-24 (below).
The Power Control Signal was added to
GSM0108.
The Power Control Signal is equivalent to
a "Phone ON Button".
This is a hardware-controlled pin on
power-up. It must be grounded
momentarily or continuously to start the
modem.
Subsequent signals to this pin (active
high-to-low transition) will cycle power to
the module.
