Item to Examine and Corrective
Action
Look for broken, bent or straightened,
or pitted cylinder head fins. Refer to
the "Visual Cylinder Inspection" in
this chapter.
Corrective Action:
Replace any cylinder that has
unacceptable cylinder head fins.
Look for cracks in the cylinder head.
Measure the diameter of the cylinder
head at several points to identify any
out-of-roundness. Refer to the latest
revision of the Service Table of
Limits - SSP-1776 for measurements.
Corrective Action:
Replace any cylinder that has a crack
in the cylinder head or if the cylinder
head is out-of-round.
Look for static seal leakage or
leakage from the head-to-barrel seal
or crack in the head or barrel.
Corrective Action:
Replace any cylinder that has leakage
at the cylinder head or barrel.
Look for scratches in the honed
surface of the cylinder wall or
cylinder bore.
Corrective Action:
Hone the cylinder to remove the
scratches. Refer to the latest revision
of the Service Table of Limits - SSP
1776 for dimensions and limits.
Make sure there is not any cylinder
head-to-barrel flange movement.
Corrective Action:
Replace any cylinder that has any
cylinder head-to-barrel flange
movement.
