Connecting PC to the unit

After connecting the cable between the unit and a PC, make the setting below while
the PC is on.
<Note>:
In the following operation, we assume that a recorded DVD-RAM disk is set to the
unit and an audio file is loaded.
If no disk is set, you cannot make the "IEEE1394" menu setting in the "SYS SETUP" menu.

Set the "IEEE1394" menu item in the "SYS SETUP" menu of the MENU mode to
"CONNECT".

How to unmount the DV824 from the PC

To unmount the DV824 from the PC, make the PC side ready for unmounting the
DV824, disconnect the IEEE1394 cable, and set the "IEEE1394" menu item to "DIS-
CONNECT".
Depending on the PC, the method for making the PC ready for unmounting the DV824
differs. Please refer to the instructions of the PC.
<Note>:
Depending on the OS, the unmounted device may be immediately mounted again.
Therefore, to stop using IEEE1394, disconnect the cable immediately after unmounting the
unit.
<Note>:
You can mount only the DVD-RAM drive. The optional Model 9057 cannot be
mounted to your PC. To transfer files between the Model 9057 and the PC, use the Ethernet
function ( see page 73 ).

Example of copying data to a computer hard disk

In the following procedure, we assume that the cable between the DV824 and the PC
is connected and the "IEEE1394" menu item in the "SYS SETUP" menu of the MENU
mode is set to "CONNECT".
<Note>:
When the "IEEE1394" menu item is set to "CONNECT", the keys and dial on the
DV824 panel are disabled.

Make sure that the DV824 icon appears on the desktop of your computer (note
that the icon looks differently depending on the personal computer).
2)
Start up an appropriate application such as Explorer on the computer, and copy
an audio data file in the DV824 drive to the computer hard disk.
