Care and Maintenance

Step 1: Clean the Manikin

To clean the simulator, use a soft cloth and warm water with a mild detergent to wipe off any
moulage materials on the manikin's skin. Gently rub the soiled area with a soft cloth to remove most
marks and stains. DO NOT use solvents or abrasive pads.
Inspect the manikin for damage or puncture marks. If damage exists, contact CAE Healthcare
Customer Service immediately for a repair. Prompt repair prevents expansion of the damaged area.

Step 2: Remove Excess Fluids

Draining Condensation from the Simulator
As part of a regular preventive maintenance schedule, condensation should be drained from the
simulator.
Depending on environmental conditions, moisture may condense inside the compressed air lines
and tanks within the simulator. It is recommended that this fluid be drained every 40 hours of
operation. In outside, high-humidity conditions, the system should be drained more frequently.
To drain condensation:
a. Locate the condensation drain hose included with the Inventory Kit.
b. Bring the hose and a small bucket to the simulator location.
c. Locate the EXTERNAL AIR port on Apollo's left shoulder.
d. With assistance, place Apollo into a supine position.
e. Power on Apollo. Do NOT launch the Maestro software.
f. Allow 60 seconds for the internal compressor to pressurize the system.
g. Power down Apollo.
h. With assistance, raise the left leg 45 degrees.
i. Place the tubing end of the condensation drain hose into the small bucket and then
connect the fitting onto the simulator's drain connector. There will be a sudden release of
pressure into the bucket. Any condensation within the system drains with this exhaust.
j. Disconnect the condensation drain hose from the simulator.
Clean the Simulator and On-Board Bleeding System
Note: A small bucket is recommended to collect wastewater during cleaning and flushing operations.
To clean and maintain the simulator and On-Board Bleeding system:
a. Remove and clean the wound haptics.
