10.3 Fault diagnosis
The most common problems are shown below:
Symptom
LCD display blank
erratic,rapidly
fluctuating readings
reads low or zero
10.4 Case removal and refitting
1. Ensure the mains lead is disconnected from the supply.
2. Remove the four crosshead screws from the bottom of the case.
3. Slide the case off the body of the gauge.
4. Refitting is the reverse of removal.
Possible cause
NiCad battery flat
faulty charger
internal fault
blown lamp
set cal function not
operated
dirt/dust on optics
Action required
either recharge instrument or
operate using mains adapter
if possible check output of
charger using a voltmeter
contact Elcometer or your local
supplier
replace lamp (see section 10.5)
follow instructions for calibration
reset (see section 6.3)
clean with compressed air or
soft cloth
