Removing Air From the Fuel Line

Overview
On diesel rammers equipped with an additional in-line fuel filter, removing air from
the fuel line may be necessary to allow easy starting.
Removing air from the fuel line is required only when a new fuel line / filter is
installed or when the fuel tank is run dry.
Procedure
Perform the procedure below to remove air from the fuel line between the fuel tank
and injection pump.
1. Fill the fuel tank.
2. Open the fuel valve (a).
3. Repeatedly squeeze and release the fuel line (b) between the in-line filter and
the injection pump to facilitate the flow of fuel to the injection pump.
4. Start the engine and allow it to run until operation is smooth. This ensures that
all of the air has been removed from the system.
5. Stop the engine and close the fuel valve.
Result
Air has now been removed from the fuel line.
