When breathing becomes more difficult and the breathing bag begins
to deflate, the oxygen supply is coming to an end.
Any oxygen self-rescuer used underground must be brought to the
surface.
Important Rules for Escaping
Start the escape calmly, do not rush.
Plan your escape route, choose the shortest way to safe ambient
air!
Behave calmly. Short, quick breaths use more oxygen!
Always make sure that the mouthpiece is tight between your teeth
and lips and cover the mouthpiece tightly with your lips.
The air from the oxygen self-rescuer is warm and dry. This shows
that the oxygen self-rescuer is functioning correctly. A possible
strange taste is normal and harmless.
Do not damage or compress the breathing bag, otherwise vital
oxygen is lost.
If you need to vomit, take the mouthpiece out of your mouth and
close it with your thumb. Do not vomit in the oxygen self-rescuer!
In order to ensure that no harmful air is inhaled from the environ-
ment, do not inhale from the oxygen self-rescuer until the mouth-
piece is reinserted.
