Overview
See the illustrations in Japanese text (page 10).
You can easily store digital audio files*
(e.g., audio CDs, MP3, WAV, Windows
Media format files, or audio data
downloaded from EMD services**) on your
computer and transfer the files to the
MiniDisc recorder.
* "OpenMG", a copyright technology that
conforms to the SDMI (Secure Digital Music
Initiative) specifications, allows you to
record or play digital music while protecting
the copyright privileges of its holders.
**EMD is available only in certain areas of the
world.

The numbers are keyed to the illustrations in
the Japanese text (pages 13 to 15).

* The VOLUME + button has a tactile dot.
4 Battery compartment
5 T MARK button
6 HOLD switch (at the rear)
7 Terminals for attaching dry battery case.
8 DC IN 3V jack
9 USB cradle connecting jack

Press N* to play/enter.
* The N button has a tactile dot.
Press ./> to rewind/fast forward.
Flip towards X to pause.
Flip towards x CHG to stop/charge.

qf Jog dial (MENU/ENTER)
Press to enter the menu, turn to select,
and then press to enter.
qg LINE IN (OPT) jack

The display window of the
recorder
1 Character information display
Displays the track, group, or disc
name*, date, error messages, track
numbers, etc.
* Names appear only with MDs that have
been labeled.
2 Group indication
3 Disc indication
Shows that the disc is rotating for
recording, playing or editing an MD.
4 REC indication
Lights up while recording. Flashes
when standing by for recording.
5 SYNC (synchro-recording) indication
Lights up while synchro-recording.
6 Play mode indication
Shows the play mode of the MD.
7 Level meter
Shows the level of the MD being
played.
8 LP2 (LP2 stereo), LP4 (LP4stereo),
MONO (monaural) indication
9 Sound indication
Lights up when Digital Sound Preset is
on.
q; Battery level indication
Shows approximate battery condition.
While charging the rechargeable
battery, this indication shows the
charging condition.
qa Melody timer indication
The headphones/earphones with
a remote control

3 REP/ENT(repeat/enter) button

5 X (pause) button
