Connecting the unit to the Internet through
a wireless network
You can connect the unit to the Internet over a
wireless network in two ways: either through the
supplied wireless station or through another access
point.
Using the supplied wireless station
With the wireless station, you can create a wireless
LAN network that allows you to connect to the
Internet using either of the following methods.
 Instant (S-IWS)*

 AOSS connection
An automatic setup procedure can be used for the
devices supplied with this unit.
The devices required for these types of connection
are the following:
 Wireless adaptor (supplied)
 Wireless station (supplied)
For details on Instant (S-IWS) connection, refer to
the supplied leaflet "Setup Guide".
For details on AOSS connection, see "Connecting
and setting up a wireless network (AOSS setup)"
(page 100).
Before connecting to the Internet, you must first
prepare the wireless station. For details, refer to
the supplied leaflet "Setup Guide".

S-IWS is an abbreviation of "Sony Instant Wireless

Audio Setup". Instant (S-IWS) connection allows you to
set up a wireless network easily.
Using an access point other than the
supplied wireless station
 Using an AOSS-compatible wireless LAN
access point
Automatic setup is possible with AOSS-
compatible access points.
The devices required for this type of connection
are the following:
— Wireless adaptor (supplied)
— AOSS-compatible wireless LAN access point

For details on AOSS-compatible wireless LAN
access point, refer to the customer support site of

 Using an AOSS-incompatible wireless LAN
access point
Automatic setup is not possible. The setup must
be done manually by searching an access point.
The devices required for this type of connection
are the following:
— Wireless adaptor (supplied)
— AOSS-incompatible wireless LAN access
point

access point and setting up a wireless network"
(page 101).
Before connecting to the Internet, you must first
prepare the access point. For details, refer to the
operation manual of the access point.
About installing the wireless
adaptor
The quality of the wireless connection may
vary according to the orientation of the wireless
adaptor.
If your unit cannot obtain a good connection,
adjust the direction of the wireless adaptor. (This
will depend on the environment in which it is
being used.)
About AOSS
The AOSS (AirStation One-Touch Secure System) is
a technology developed by BUFFALO that simplifies
connections and settings for wireless networks.
