    Wireless station  Operation mode switch (MODE 1, MODE , AUTO) Switches the operation mode of the wireless station. Set the switch to “AUTO” during normal use. MODE 1 Use this mode when the network consists only of the devices in this package.

To listen to the Internet radio, the wireless station or the wireless LAN access point has to be connected to the Internet.

    Turning on the power Connect the power cord to a wall outlet. The unit automatically turns on, makes the initial settings, and then turns off. If the clock has not been set, the clock setting display appears. In this case, set the clock (page 29).

    Transferring audio data to a USB storage device Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the top or rear of the unit. Refer to the operating manual of the USB storage device as well. Select the HDD JUKEBOX function. Display the albums, playlists, groups, or tracks that you want to transfer.

    Playing tracks using the “SensMe™ Channels” function “SensMe™ Channels” uses Sony’s 12 Tone Analysis to analyze the characteristics of tracks that have been recorded or imported to the HDD Jukebox and categorizes them into 27 channels. You can use the “SensMe™...
  • Page 70 Press / to select a channel. The unit plays the main part of the first track in the selected channel. Press / to select the desired track within the channel. Each time you press  /  , the unit plays the main part of the selected track.
  • Page 71 Notes  Only tracks with information on its release year will be assembled into the YEAR channel.  The year indicated for a track assembled in the YEAR channel may not necessarily be the year of its first release. This is because the information used corresponds with the CD on which the track or album is contained.

    To cancel the operation, select [Cancel]. Using the DSEE function DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) is a Sony-developed technology that enhances sounds in the higher registers. This technology recovers the high-register areas within audio data that were cut during MP3 or ATRAC compression, producing a playback quality close to that of the original sound.

    Playing a CD This unit can play audio CDs and CD-R/RW discs recorded with MP3 audio tracks. See page 170 for details on playable discs. CD Select the CD function. Press  and place a disc into the disc tray. The disc tray slides out.

    To change the setting for obtaining title information Enter the Options menu and select [Setting] – [Obtain title info]. Select the desired setting for the [Auto title labeling] setting. The unit obtains title  information automatically whenever a CD is loaded. The unit does not obtain title information automatically.

    Listening to the radio or DAB services You can tune in radio stations or DAB services either manually or automatically. Pre-setting stations or services in advance allows you to recall them up by number. DAB services can be received with the UK model only.

    Press and hold down TUNING +/–. Scanning stops automatically when a station is tuned in. To cancel scanning, press  (Auto tuning). To select the station manually, press TUNING +/– repeatedly until the frequency of the desired radio station appears (Manual tuning).

    Connecting a digital music player to DMPORT (DIGITAL MEDIA PORT) You can listen to or record the playback sound from a digital music player (such as a portable audio player) that supports a DMPORT connection. Connect the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter to the unit and the external digital music player.

    Connecting an external component (AUDIO IN) You can listen to or record playback sound from an external component (such as a cassette deck) connected to the AUDIO IN jack on the top or rear of the unit. Use an audio connecting cord (optional) to connect the AUDIO IN jack on the unit to the audio out jack on the external component.
