    Instruction manual for CoolSafe Introduction This manual covers the CoolSafe models using the touch control system. The models are: CoolSafe Touch 55-4, 55-9, 55-15, CoolSafe Touch 95-15, CoolSafe Touch 100-9 and CoolSafe Touch 110-4.     On table models the vacuum pump must be placed near to the freeze dryer. LaboGene recommends the VacuuBrand RZ2.5 rotary vane pump for which a variety of protection accessories, against aggressive materials are available. The vacuum pump outlet/exhaust is fitted with an oil mist filter as standard.

    Check the oil level on the pump and fill it if necessary. The oil level sight glass should be 1/2 - 3/4 full. LaboGene recommends that when the pump is running the gas ballast valve is in the open position. Installation of accessories The CoolSafe Touch is a basic unit and must be equipped with the necessary accessories in order to run a specific freeze-drying process.

    UP and DOWN arrows on the right side of the display to scroll through the menu items. To return to the previous menu press the LaboGene logo placed in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

    Instruction manual for CoolSafe 4.2.2 Vacuum pump connection The connection for the vacuum pump is placed on the back of the cabinet. The connection between the vacuum pump and the freeze dryer is a vacuum hose, which is clamped to the nozzles on the vacuum pump and the freeze dryer with the delivered clamps.

    Instruction manual for CoolSafe 4.2.4 Product temperature (option) The temperature in the product being dried is measured using a thermocouple. 4.2.5 Drain valve The drain valve is placed on the front of the cabinet. After de-icing or cleaning of the ice condenser it can be drained through the drain valve.

    During freeze drying all time, pressure and temperature data is stored on the SD card at one minute intervals. The data saved on the SD card is formatted for use in the LaboGene freeze drying software package. From the software the data can be formatted and saved in an Excel compatible format.

    Instruction manual for CoolSafe Error situations, status and error codes Power failure If the freeze dryer is running in manual or auto mode during a short period of power failure – less than 10 minutes, the freeze dryer will start up in the same mode and continue the ongoing process, using the same parameters, in manual mode, and continue running the active programme if in auto mode.

    Instruction manual for CoolSafe remains closed until you enter the freeze drying modes (either opened via the touch screen in manual mode or via programme sequence in automatic mode). Freeze drying The CoolSafe Touch will allow freeze drying in 10 steps without any further manipulations. However, if manual mode is used, then all values and time transitions for the freeze drying must be input manually via the touch screen.

Thoroughly dry the condenser using disposable tissues, spray with alcohol and wipe dry, ensuring there is no retention of any liquid in the drain. Freeze drying using manifolds The manifold is connected to the conus in the lid.
