Installation and setup of the software The CoolSafe Control and Datalogger software is delivered on the SD card placed in the SD card reader located in the back panel of the CoolSafe cabinet. Remove the SD card and load it into the computer you wish to install the software package on. - Page 5 Instruction manual for CoolSafe The installation process will begin. Locate the application file and right click to create a shortcut and place it on the desktop. Go to the desktop and right click the shortcut. Press the Advanced option and select the “Run as administrator option.

Page 9: Connecting To The Coolsafe
Before starting to connect the CoolSafe and the computer, make sure the cable (mini USB for the CoolSafe and standard USB for the computer) between the two is in place. The USB port on the CoolSafe is located on the back of the cabinet. Any USB port on the computer will do the job. - Page 11 The driver will be installed automatically. When done Windows will say so. To connect to the CoolSafe the software needs to know which COM port is being used. Open the Device Manager in the Windows control panel, locate and open the Ports option and the USB serial port from the list (in this case COM3).

Any changes made in the control software will remain there and not have any effect on the CoolSafe until it has been send to the controller on the CoolSafe main board. To send data to the “Send” button in the “Commando” box in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. -

Choose the desired option and press “Send” for the choice to take effect. When the correct temperature is reached the automatic freeze drying process will start and continue until all pre-freezing (if available) and primary drying programme steps have been completed.

Pressing the “Manual” button on the main screen will open the window shown below. Click inside the freeze drying box and the setup box will appear. Same thing for the alarm pressure. Enter the desired values and press send to upload the values to the CoolSafe control board. The freeze drying process will start and continue to run until the user stops it. Select the “Stop” command in the dropdown list and press the “Send” button.
