Firmware notes
Remote Start Ready (RSR): A function that enables the interface module to remote start the vehicle completely on its own.
Consequently, there is no need for an aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
SmartStart Compatible: SmartStart is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used in
Remote Start Ready (RSR) mode without the use of a remote starter. See "Module programming" for more information.
Manual Transmission: RSR installations are not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
Visual Confirmations: Are made via the hazard lights instead of the parking lights. Therefore, shutdown error flashes do not apply.
Climate Controls: Audi climate controls are key memory sensitive, meaning the last key used to operate the vehicle will determine the
setting for the climate controls. In order to make changes to environment control settings, the following procedure is necessary:
• Remote start the vehicle.
• Make your climate control adjustments, ensuring not to use the AUTO mode on the control head as this makes the Audi adjust its
HVAC settings based on external factors such as engine temperature.
• When the adjustments are complete, turn off the vehicle starter, either by remote or footbrake. This will ensure the climate controls
function as the customer desires them too.
Unless specified otherwise, all connectors are displayed from the wire side, with the exception of the OBDII diagnostic connector.
Refer to the "Vehicle connections" following the installation diagram.
Footnotes
[1] Hood pin: The installation of an aftermarket hood pin is only required on vehicles that are not equipped with a factory hood pin or if
not supported in data.
[2] Key Release circuits: There are two possible types of Key Release circuits. Perform the Key Release Voltage Test explained in
the wiring diagram to determine which Key Release installation Type is required. For Key Wrap instructions, refer to "Immobilizer
Interface."
[3] Key Wrap: For Key Wrap instructions, refer to "Immobilizer Interface".
