3.2.1.2. Contacts
Principles

A Contact represents a codec channel. For example, the IQOYA *CALL in stereo mode corresponds to a single

Contact, whereas the IQOYA *CALL in dual mono mode corresponds to two distinct Contacts.

A Contact is defined in by its name, its addresses, its optional tags and a set of optional parameters which define

the characteristics of the connection.

A single Contact can be reached through different means, thus different addresses. For example, an IQOYA *CALL

in stereo mode can either be called in SIP mode or in symmetrical RTP mode, thus two different addresses for this

Contact.

3.2.1.3. Profiles
Principles

A Profile is a set of parameters which define the characteristics of the connection which will be established with the

contact at call time

A Profile specifies the preferred audio encoding formats to be used during the communication, the intended Quality

of Service class, and optional codec parameters.

More than one audio encoding format can be specified and arranged as a list. At call initiation (in SIP

mode), the list will serve for audio format negotiation between callee and caller. The first format in the

list will be proposed, if not accepted the second format from the list will be proposed, and so on.

3.2.2. Placing a call using the Connection Book

It is first necessary to upload the Connection Book file in the codec. This can be done manually in the Preferences /

System / Download Upload Page as described in Chapter 2.5.4.
