Suggestion for orthogonal-sizing error-estimation:
In situations where the nearest parallel bars appear to be adequately distant,
but there is concern over the proximity of transverse bars:
obviously the measurement point will be chosen to be on the bar to be sized,
midway between two transverse bars;
try repeating the SIZE determination, but this time, before taking either
reading:
move the head sideways to a point midway between the bar under
investigation and one of its parallel neighbours (and still midway between the
transverse bars), rotate the head to the orthogonal orientation, and press the
SET
button to zero the instrument; then take the orthogonal and parallel
readings as usual.
