Detectable Printing Defects
The following defects can be monitored:
• Dots / White Spots
An image quality problem in the form of either white spots on solid areas, or spots of black or
another color on the background.
• Streaks
An elongated smudge or a white area within an image.
Erroneous detection refers to a false positive, wherein a non-existent print defect is reported on the
Image Quality Monitor console.
Basic Flow of Image Quality Monitor Operation
The basic operation of the Image Quality Monitor is as follows:
• To monitor defects, paper characteristic data is required. For details about paper characteristic
data, see "What to Do When Fiery is Connected" in "Auto Color Diagnosis Guide".
