2. Troubleshooting
• In general, paper that needs to be decurled is unsuitable for Image Quality Monitor.
• For details about the advanced settings for custom paper adjustment and Adjustment Settings for
Operators, ask the machine administrator.
Print defects that should be detected fail to be detected or print defects are detected
unnecessarily.
Dot stains and white spots at the edges of images cannot be detected.
In some instances, print defects at the edge of the image are not detected. When the detection level
has been specified according to the white or solid-fill background, erroneous detection tends to
occur for print jobs with many edges, such as those consisting of text, due to the minute dimensional
deviation. Therefore, the detection level threshold for edge regions is lower than that applied to the
white and solid-fill background. To detect print defects in the edge regions more accurately,
increase the value in [Defect Detection Level Settings for Edges] in [Detection Level Settings] in
[Threshold Settings]. For details, see page 21 "Threshold Setting".
Mottling at the trailing edge
In some instances, mottling on the images is excessively detected. Mottling is a print defect in which
minute white spots appear where solid-fill areas are not filled evenly. If you wish to prevent such
over-detection, decrease the print defect detection level settings in [Detection Level Settings] in
[Threshold Settings]. For details, see page 23 "Edit".
