Operating Conditions of Image Quality Monitor
Image Quality Monitor requires the following operating conditions:
• [Auto Color Diagnosis Unit Setting] and [Image Verification] are set to [Active].
• The paper in use is selected in the paper catalog.
• [Status] is set to [Enable] for the paper in use.
• The printing method is set to normal printing.
• The specifications of the supported paper types are given below. The supported paper sizes differ
from those of the Auto Color Diagnosis Unit.
Paper size: paper with a vertical dimension of 210.0 mm (8.3 inches) or more and a horizontal
dimension of 279.0 mm (10.9 inches) to 650.0 mm (25.6 inches); paper with a vertical dimension
of 279.0 mm (10.9 inches) or more and a horizontal dimension of 210.0 mm (8.3 inches) to
650.0 mm (25.6 inches) (including custom-size paper and banner sheets)
Paper weight: Paper Weight 1 or above
Paper type: plain paper, recycled paper, high-gloss paper, gloss paper, matte paper, synthetic
paper
Paper color: white
• If [Image Verification] does not appear in [Auto Color Diagnosis Unit Setting], contact your service
representative.
• For details about [Auto Color Diagnosis Unit Setting], see "Administrator Tools" in Device
Management.
• Before you generate the Auto Color Diagnosis property, clean the line sensor and execute [Auto
Adjust Image Position]. For details, see page 44 "How to Clean the Line Sensor", and "Auto
Adjust Image Position" in "Custom Paper Settings" in Preparation.
• For paper with a long dimension of less than 420.0 mm (16.5 inches) or a short dimension of less
than 279.0 mm (10.9 inches), set [Add inspection patterns] to [Off] and execute the Auto Color
Diagnosis property generation. For details about the inspection patterns, see page 27 "Add
Inspection Patterns".
• For details about [Status], see "Using the "Auto Color Diagnosis Properties" Screen" in the Auto
Color Diagnosis Guide.
• Using the decurling function may cause the machine to erroneously detect print defects. You can
specify the decurling function in the settings described below. If these settings differ from each
other, the setting in Custom Paper Settings is applied. For details about Custom Paper Settings and
Adjustment Settings for Operators, ask the machine administrator.
