Introduction

This chapter contains information as to how to adapt your scanner to various applications with preference
setting. For instance, to narrow the field of view of the scanner to make sure it reads only those barcodes
intended by the user.

Decode Area

Whole Area Decoding

When this option is enabled, the scanner attempts to decode barcode(s) within its field of view, from the
center to the periphery, and transmits the barcode that has been first decoded.

Central Area Decoding

The scanner attempts to decode barcode(s) within a specified central area and transmits the barcode that
has been first decoded. This option allows the scanner to narrow its field of view to make sure it reads only
those barcodes intended by the user. For instance, if multiple barcodes are placed closely together, central
area decoding in conjunction with appropriate pre-defined central area will insure that only the desired
barcode is read.
