Symptom
Sander burns wood.
Board slips on conveyor
belt.
Ripples in sanded
surface.
A. Non-uniformly spaced
ripples.
B. Uniformly spaced
ripples.
Wood is gouged.
* WARNING: Some corrections may require a qualified electrician.
Possible Cause
Abrasive strip is overlapped.
Abrasive is loaded.
Depth of cut excessive for fine grit.
Feed rate too slow.
Abrasive is worn.
Tension rollers too high.
(optional) extension tables too high.
Excessive feed rate.
Dirty or worn conveyor belt.
A. Uneven feed rate.
B. Conveyor table flexing or vibration.
Stock slipping on conveyor.
Work piece not properly supported.

Re-wrap abrasive strip.
Clean abrasive.
Use coarser grit or reduce depth of cut.
Increase feed rate.
Replace abrasive.
Lower tension rollers.
Adjust tables.
Reduce feed rate.
Replace conveyor belt.
Conveyor belt slipping (see above)
Board slips on conveyor belt (see above).
Conveyor motor stalls (see above).
Reduce depth of cut and/or feed rate. Check
for loose bolts, loose shaft coupling set
screws, or out-of-balance drum.
Correct depth of cut or roller tension.
Add work supports for long work pieces.
