HDX Practitioner Cart Battery Maintenance Best Practices
Charge Level Indicators
Discharging
During mobile operation of the Practitioner Cart
using battery power, the Battery Charge LED Meter
will display the battery's remaining charge level.
The LED furthest to the left will flash red when
shutdown is imminent, indicating that the
Practitioner Cart should be plugged into an AC
wall outlet as soon as possible. Discharging the
battery below 30% can reduce the battery life
significantly. The battery should always be
completely charged after it has been drained.
The low battery alarm will beep once per
second if the battery is low unless it is silenced
by pressing the Alarm Mute button. Once the
charge level falls below 30% (and shutdown is
imminent) the alarm will resume again after one
minute.
The minimum battery voltage for the system to
power up is 9.5VDC. When the battery voltage is
below 9.5VDC, the system will not power up, even
if plugged into an AC power outlet.
Charging
During stationary operation, the Practitioner Cart
should be plugged into an AC wall outlet. The
Practitioner Cart should not be run on the battery
for an extended period of time as it will drain the
battery and affect the life of the battery. While
plugged into an AC wall outlet, the power supply
module will deliver AC power to the connected
equipment while simultaneously charging the
battery. The Battery Charge LED Meter will display
the battery's charge level. The LED furthest to the
right will flash green when the battery is charging.
It will stop flashing and remain on when the
battery is fully charged.
The battery life cycle is approximately 300 full
discharge cycles or 700 half discharge cycles.

Storage
Short Term Storage
If the Practitioner Cart will be idle for less than
three months, power off the Practitioner Cart and
plug the power cord into an AC wall outlet. This
ensures that the battery does not drain while in
storage and will be fully charged for the next use.
Long Term Storage
If the Practitioner Cart will be idle for more than
three months, the battery should be fully charged,
removed from the cart, and stored.
To remove the battery, follow the instructions in
the Installation Guide for 720p and 1080p HDX
Practitioner Cart.
Store the battery in a cool, dry area while the Cart
is out of use.
•
The optimal storage temperature is 15ºC/59ºF.
•
The battery terminals and the connector should
be protected to prevent accidental shorting.
•
The battery voltage should be checked every
three months and charged if the voltage has
dropped to 30%.
•
If the voltage drops below 12.5VDC, fully
recharge the battery.
