Engine Shutdown

After Engine Shutdown

Operation Break

If the boat is not used, the engine should be started
and warmed up every two weeks. This prevents
corrosion damage in the engine.
If the boat is left in saltwater it should be run on the
engine flush fitting for the warm up, see Engine
Flush, page 48. Also see Operating in Freezing
Temperatures, page 43.
If you expect the boat to be unused for two months or
more, it must be prepared for this shut down period.
See Storage, page 101
When the drive is stored out of the water, the sacrificial
anodes oxidize on the surface. This prevents them
from functionally correctly when placed back in the
water. Before using the boat again the sacrificial
anodes on the drive and shield must be cleaned with
emery paper to remove any oxidation. Do not use a
wire brush or other steel tools when cleaning, as these
may damage the anodes.
