4. Functional description 4.1 Drive The GMG-K or GMG-L pump units is driven by a direct current gear motor (5) that is flanged to the pump casing (4) from below. 4.2 Delivery function When the eccentric shaft (3) is rotating, the delivery piston (2.1) of every pump element of the respectively delivering pump element row performs a suction and delivery stroke per rotation each whilst delivering lubricant from the reservoir (1) to the lube points. -

4.3 Stirring without delivery function This function can only be used for the GMG-K or GMG-L pump units fitted with one row of pump elements! In some modes of operation, improvement of lubricant quality and delivery behaviour require additional stirring of the lubricant. -

4.5 Pump elements 4.5.1 GMG-K pump elements The pump elements of the GMG-K unit are provided with a spring reset. During suction stroke, the pressure spring (2.2) moves the delivery piston (2.1) against the eccentric shaft (3). In such motion, the lubricant being available in the reservoir (1) is drawn through the suction hole (2.3) into the metering chamber (2.4). -

To this effect, the GMG-K or GMG-L units can optionally (1S version) be fitted with a pure stirring function. When this stirring function is switched on, a stirring process lasting one minute will be started after lapse of an adjustable off-duty time. -

Note! When removing the pump element, be careful to remove the pressure spring (GMG-K only) and the delivery piston from the reservoir as well. If these parts are left in the reservoir, the pump unit may be damaged and, thus, fail. -

Do not put the pump element into horizontal position and screw it down unless the delivery piston’s head is resting at the pressure ring and engaging its groove.
