N870E IP PRO – base station with external antennas
In contrast to the standard unit N870 IP PRO with two built-in
internal wire antennas, N870E IP PRO offers the possibility to
connect external antennas. For this purpose, the unit has two
TNC connections.
Advantages of external antennas:
•
Flexible adjustment and optimisation of antenna orientation
can improve DECT range and save costs.
•
Better handling of special environments: In situations where
there are problems with DECT interference, changing the
antenna position (by 45-90 degrees) can lead to an improve-
ment.
N870E IP PRO units are supplied with two external antennas.
Mounting the antennas

Mount the antennas on the
threads on the left and
right side of the device.
Aligning antennas
The movable, alignable antennas make it possible to improve the radiation direction of the DECT
signal depending on the mounting orientation of the housing. However, the optimal alignment
of the antennas can only be determined by a DECT measurement.
Observe the following notes:
•
The strongest radiation from a dipole antenna is at right angles to the dipole.
•
This stronger radiation should run directly into the room to be covered.
•
This stronger radiation should not be reflected indirectly into the target room via a neigh-
bouring metal surface, because this directivity does not apply to the detection of possibly
colliding transmitters and thus this would create an imbalance between transmitter power
and receiver sensitivity.
