This chapter contains specifications and characteristics for the
Agilent 5517B/BL/C/D/DL/FL Laser Head.
The specifications in this chapter apply to all functions over the
temperature range 0
otherwise noted. All specifications apply after the temperature of the laser
head has been stabilized after 1 hour continuous operation and the
performance tests have been run.

Over time the optical power on the laser tube will decrease. The laser,
however, will continue to operate at low levels of optical power. It is
important to know the level of optical power needed to maintain the
integrity of your system. You will need to calculate how often to measure
the optical power based on your optical needs and the optical power of
the laser when manufactured (see rear panel label).

The distinction between specifications and characteristics is described as
follows:
Specifications describe warranted performance.
Characteristics provide useful, but nonwarranted information about the
functions and performance of the instrument. Any value with a "typical"
moniker is a characteristic.
