Field Operations and Adjustments
Set the meter air pressure as follows:
a. Set the seed cart plenum pressure between 20 to 25
inches of water
b. Allow the seed cart 5 to 10 minutes for meter
reservoirs to fill.
c. Use continuous test to fill the seed discs with seed.
d. Check the air pressure periodically. Set as necessary.
m
CAUTION: Stay clear of moving parts
because tractor engine must be running
during this adjustment.
With the planter in operating position, the row unit parallel
links and main frame must be parallel to the ground.
Plant test strip.
NOTE: Operate at anticipated travel speed or test will be
invalid.
Check the seed depth, spacing and cover. Adjust as
needed. If some row units are planting in the tractor tire
tracks, additional adjustments will be required for those
rows to attain the desired seed depth.
NOTE: If adjustments are made, run the test strip again.

Finishing the Field

Disconnect the seed meter clutches on the individual row
units as required to finish field without planting multiple
rows.
Empty all the hoppers and tanks to 1/4 full or less before
transporting the planter.
Raise the markers and pin in position.
If chemicals were spilled on the planter, clean off.
m
WARNING: Use same precautions when
cleaning up chemical spills as used when
filling chemical hoppers. Failure to do so
can result in severe personal injury.
Raise the planter for field transport, or raise and fold the
planter for road transport.
01-30
Check the chemical application and readjust if needed.
Once the tests show everything is operating as desired,
proceed with planting.
NOTE: Planting speeds in excess of 12 kmh (8 mph) are
not recommended.
Reduce the speed in rough, rocky or uneven field
conditions.
Check all application rates periodically, at least as often
as seed is added.
IMPORTANT: Keep the trash from the blower intake. If
the screen is installed, remove the trash as
required.
IMPORTANT: 15 inch Row Spacing Models: Because
the planter wings are flexible, be careful around
waterways, terraces, and hilly ground. If the
wings reach the upper float limit, hoppers next to
the frame pivots can contact each other.
