DISCONNECTING THE PLANTER FROM
THE TRACTOR
m
WARNING: Because planter has negative
hitch weight, park planter only in folded
transport position, raised or lowered.
FIG. 8: Select a firm, level location to disconnect the
planter.
To keep the row units off the ground, park the planter in
the folded raised transport position with the wing wheels
lowered to support the hitch.
On a clean dry floor, park the planter in the folded lowered
transport position.
NOTE: Do not park the planter in lowered, unfolded
position because the hitch will not be in the
correct position for hitching.
m
WARNING: When parking planter in a
raised folded position, always install lockup
channels on wheel cylinders and block
planter wheels.
Raise or lower the hitch cylinder enough to reduce the
load on the tractor drawbar for easy hitch pin removal.
Relieve the internal hydraulic system pressure in the
tractor. Turn all the electrical consoles OFF.
Stop the tractor engine, shift to the park or neutral position
and set the brakes before dismounting from the tractor.
Disconnect the wiring harnesses and install dust covers
on the plug ends.
Disconnect the hydraulic hoses.
Disconnect the pump mounting bracket from the
three-point hitch pin and store PTO pump in the storage
location on the frame. Remove the hydraulic pump from
the PTO shaft.
Remove the hitch pin and disconnect the safety transport
chain.
