    SECTION 2: INITIAL SET-UP 1. DETERMINE SET-UP LOCATION Activate Station: The Activate Station organizes and charges the Pods and microphone(s) and also wirelessly connects audio to the classroom audio system and your mobile device. Set it up in a convenient place near a power source, and that is highly accessible for both teachers and students.

  • Page 12 Pods/Remote/Sharemike charging ports. The charging light will turn red to indicate normal charging. When fully charged, it will turn green. If your Activate System was purchased together with a Lightspeed audio system (Redcat, Topcat, 955 or Access Link), all components were registered (paired) together at the factory.

REGISTER ANY NEW ACTIVATE SYSTEM COMPONENTS If the Activate Station and Pods were purchased separately from the Lightspeed classroom audio system, the new components will need to be registered (paired) with the audio system for operation. Please visit the Lightspeed website at www.lightspeed-tek.com/accessregistration to obtain registration instructions.
  • Page 14 Activate 3. Begin by pressing the Bluetooth 1 pairing button on the back of your Activate Station to connect to the Lightspeed system for remote control functionality. Once paired, any registered Pods, if purchased, will appear on the mobile app.

SET UP THE FLEXMIKE + EARBUD Initial Setup • Locate the earbud lanyard • Hang your Flexmike on the lanyard opposite the magnetic clasp. • Plug the earbud into the headphone connection on the Flexmike. • NOTE: if you prefer to wear the earbud in your left ear: - Turn the lanyard around so the earbud goes up to your left ear.

  • Page 17 10. TEST GENERAL SYSTEM OPERATION 1. From your mobile device, open the Lightspeed Activate App. 2. Select the classroom speaker and begin speaking into your microphone. You should hear your voice at a comfortable, but not loud volume level. Tap the mute button to ensure that is working properly.
  • Page 18 11. SETTING SYSTEM VOLUME LEVELS To allow for maximum flexibility, the Flexmike, Pods and classroom audio system all have independent volume controls. To set the proper volume for your classroom, place the microphone around your neck and take the following steps: Flexmike Volume (classroom speaker and Pods) To adjust, use the up/down buttons on the Flexmike.

    The Activate mobile app allows teachers to utilize their device video camera synced together with the Activate system audio to capture key moments in the classroom. Through the Bluetooth audio link, the App will seamlessly sync up the selected audio source (teacher microphone or Pods) with the video you have recorded.
  • Page 23 2. AUDIO ONLY RECORDING In addition to video recording, teachers can record just the audio of a lesson or student interaction. 1. Tap the record tab • Verify the Bluetooth audio connection is present as indicated by a “headphone” icon in the lower left hand corner.

REMOTE RECORDING Remote recording allows the teacher to use his/her primary mobile device to start a recording on a secondary mobile device (on a tripod in the front of the classroom for example). During remote recording, the teacher can select pods or class as normal while the secondary device is capturing video synced with that selected audio.

  • Page 29 ADDITIONAL CAPABILITIES AVAILABLE WITH ACTIVATE APP CONT’D Mic to Mic: If your system is equipped with a second Flexmike, the Activate app allows you to activate Mic to Mic mode where two teachers can have a direct 2-way conversation with each other. Toggle the Mic to Mic function ON in the Settings tab and an icon will appear on the remote screen.
  • Page 30 Pressing this will return the Activate App to its original settings, including volume levels. Unpair: Press this button to unpair your mobile device from the Activate system. This is useful if you wish to take your device to pair up with a system next door.

On the Activate app, press Pod #, then press center class button (or swipe Pod to class icon). The class button will light and Pod # button will flash momentarily, then will light and a tone will sound in the earbud when connected (1-2 seconds).

BATTERY REPLACEMENT Overview of batteries The Pods and Flexmike contain rechargeable battery packs that require daily charging.
