Using the zoom function

Adjust the angle of view you want to shoot.
The camera has a 20x optical zoom.
This can be expanded up to approximately 32 times (approximately 24 times in UHD recording) when the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [i.ZOOM]
→ [ON] is set.
The zoom ratio can be confirmed between [Z000]/[iZ000] (maximum wide angle) to [Z999]/[iZ999] (maximum telephoto) on the screen display. The value
becomes higher as the the camera zooms in and smaller as the camera zooms out.
The zoom ratio is displayed as [iZ000] to [iZ999] when [i.ZOOM] is set to [ON]. Background of the character "i" is displayed in white when the i.ZOOM
function is enabled.
The zoom can be operated at the following three locations:
f Zoom lever (on the grip)
f Zoom lever (on the handle)
f Zoom ring on the lens

Adjusting the zoom position

Adjust the zoom with the zoom lever.
<T>: Zoom in the image.
<W>: Zoom out the image.
Lightly pressing the zoom lever on the grip will operate the zoom at low speed. Pressing strongly will operate the zoom at high speed.
You can also operate the zoom manually with the zoom ring.

t Press the USER button to which [FAST ZOOM] is assigned in the [CAMERA] menu → [USER SW] or touch the USER button icon to enable/disable
[FAST ZOOM] when you want to operate the zoom at a higher speed.
t When [FAST ZOOM] is enabled, the motorized zoom can operated with higher speed if the zoom lever is pushed to the end. However, the zoom
sound becomes louder than usual. Disable [FAST ZOOM] if the sound of the motorized zoom is obtrusive.
r Using the zoom lever on the handle
Performs the zoom operation with the speed set in the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [H.ZOOM SPEED].
