7. Safe care and maintenance

To ensure that care or maintenance of the press is carried out safely, the following rules must be
observed:
In the event of a fault, shut off the compressed air supply to the press immediately.
Shut off the compressed air supply before carrying out any repair or maintenance work.
CAUTION!
Make sure that the press is not able to be switched on by persons not authorised to do so.
Regularly check the safety features to ensure that they are fully functional.
It is strictly forbidden to remove or tamper with any of the safety features.
Maintenance work on the press may only be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance
with the instructions specified in the operating manual.
The press must not be used if the safety features or the equipment plate are damaged of
missing.
When repair or maintenance work is carried out, only original replacement parts may be used.
Check the press regularly for any damage.
Clean the interior of the press regularly. This will prevent any flakes of paint from paper or
film from forming deposits, which can lead to uneven pressure being exerted on the
compacting ram and increasing wear on moving parts.
CAUTION!
For safety reasons, cleaning may only be carried out when the press is disconnected from the
compressed air supply. The following steps should be carried out:
Lift the lid of the upper loading hatch slightly in order to raise the ram.
Once the ram has reached its top dead point, open the upper doors and the lower doors fully.
Then disconnect the press from the compressed air supply.
The ram is now lowered at an idle stroke without compressed air.
Do not start any cleaning, maintenance or repair work until the ram has reached the bottom
dead point.
CAUTION!
Regularly check all screw connections on the press. The compacting ram must not be lubricated, since
it is self-lubricating. A manometer/pressure regulator/water separator is fitted to the compressed air
connector. Please check the level in the water separator regularly and empty the separator when it is
full. Open the water trap by briefly turning the connector at the drain hose, and drain off the contents
of the water separator via the hose.
