Universal Serial Bus (USB)
The MTS 6520 VCI has a fixed USB configuration which
cannot be changed. This ensures that the MTS 6520 VCI
can always be connected to a single PC running the
VCI Manager software so you can configure LAN or
WLAN settings required by your local network. In ad-
dition, it is important to note that a USB connection is
required to configure and update the firmware on the
MTS 6520 VCI.
The connectors on the USB cable are slip in connec-
tors that do not have any kind of a latch. In order to
keep the USB cable connected, you can secure it to the
MTS 6520 VCI using the supplied cable keeper. The ca-
ble keeper is secured to the MTS 6520 VCI case with a
screw, the USB cable is inserted into the slot, and then
it is plugged in. Note: You will need a hex head 3mm
tool to connect the cable keeper to the MTS 6520 VCI.

Local Area Network (LAN)
The MTS 6520 VCI LAN connection is setup and config-
ured while the device is connected over USB to a PC
running the VCI Manager software. Once configured,
the MTS 6520 VCI is connected to the LAN using the
Ethernet cable.
The connectors on both ends of the Ethernet cable are
latched. To disconnect them you must press down on
the latch while you pull the connector out.

Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
The 802.11g WLAN connection on the MTS 6520 VCI
is set up and configured while the device is connected
over USB to a PC running the VCI Manager software.

tion which runs on the Microsoft Windows operating
system to configure and update VCIs. The VCI Manager
software is also used to set the J2534 identity VCIs.
The VCI Manager software allows the configuration of
VCI-to-host PC communications and facilitates VCI firm-
ware updates.

cific vehicles and systems.
The MTS 6520 VCI supports pass-thru programming of
the flash calibration files that are stored in a vehicle
onboard controller (e.g., PCM, ABS, VTD). Refer to
