10.3 Cold extraction - using the Thermal block

The thermal block
Note
The thermal block is not stored in the cryostat chamber; rather, it is stored outside at room
temperature.
1. Place the cap
specimen disc is visible.
2. Fit the pin
(→ Fig. 118-3)
3. After about 20 seconds, the frozen specimen can be removed from the specimen disc with
forceps (→ Fig. 118-7).
4. If the cap is too loose, readjust it using the screw (→ Fig. 118-6).
Note
Do not overtighten the screw.
