Chapter 1

Introduction

This chapter describes the VXI-AT2023 interface kit and lists the contents of your kit and
optional equipment.
The VXI-AT2023 is an interface kit that links any IBM Personal Computer AT or compatible
computer (hereafter referred to as the PC AT) directly to the VXIbus. A PC AT equipped with a
VXI-AT2023 can function as a VXI Commander and Resource Manager. The VXI-AT2023
makes the PC AT appear as though it were plugged directly into the VXI backplane as an
embedded CPU VXI module.

What Your Kit Should Contain

Your kit should contain the following components:
AT-MXI Interface Board
Standard VXI-MXI Interface Module
or
Enhanced VXI-MXI Interface Module with INTX option
3.5 in. NI-VXI Distribution Diskette for the AT-MXI and
ISC 386/ix
and
5.25 in. NI-VXI Distribution Diskette for the AT-MXI and
ISC 386/ix
2 m Type M1 MXIbus Cable *

NI-VXI Software Reference Manual for C
NI-VXI Text Utilities Reference Manual
* The 2 m Type M1 MXIbus cable is included in your kit unless you specified
otherwise in your order. You may have ordered your kit without this cable so
that you could order a different type or length of MXIbus cable. Refer to the
Optional Equipment section on the following page.
