T he V S W R br idge HZ 5 1 has  N female
N-connectors.
IN = input to the bridge
Here the signal source is to be connected. This
may be a HF-generator, the tracking generator of
a spectrum analyzer or network analyzer.
OUT = Output of the bridge
At this output a voltage is available the amplitude
and phase of which are proportional to the re-
flection coefficient of the DUT and which may be
measured using a suitable detector. A suitable
detector may be a HF-wattmeter, the input of a
spectrum analyzer or network analyzer.

DUT = Device under test – connection
The DUT should be connected as closely as
possible, any cable or adapter inbetween will
affect the measurement as they cause additional
reflections.
In order to keep the connections short between
the VSWR bridge HZ51 and the Hameg Spectrum
Analyzer (e.g. HM501-) the bridge has been
designed so that it can be connected directly via
N to N adapters. Two adapters are enclosed with
the instrument.
