02_GETTING STARTED

Digital Smart B+ is an electronic unit designed for indoor
cycling training & testing that connects to a PC (Windows)
or a mobile app for devices such as smartphones or
tablets.
The integrated ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart protocols
interact wirelessly with PCs and mobile devices, with no
additional components necessary for Digital Smart B+
compatibility with most devices.
Digital Smart B+ is compatible with ELITE's My E-Training
app; the app's many features work with iOS (iPhone, iPad,
iPod Touch) and Android devices.
Digital Smart B+ supports ANT+ FE-C, an interactive pro-
tocol developed for hometrainers to read speed and
cadence data and to adjust resistance. Other protocols
allow only one-way data transfer and no interaction with
the hometrainer.
Moreover, the ANT+ FE-C protocol is "open" - it allows the
hometrainer to run all the software that supports it, so you
can freely choose the software to use with the Digital
Smart B+.
A complete list of devices featuring the ANT+ FE-C proto-
col is available at (http://www.thisisant.com/directory/).
Note: Not all computers/devices have integrated ANT+
connectivity and some may require an additional compo-
nent.
Many newer phones and tablets already feature the
14
Bluetooth Smart Ready connection and/or the ANT con-
nection and do not require additional components: if your
smartphone / tablet / cycle computer features integrated
ANT+ connectivity it will be utilized, otherwise some
models can communicate with external USB dongles for a
direct connection or via adapters.
Here's a list of compatible devices:
iPad 3 or newer
iPhone 4S or newer
iPod Touch 5th gen or newer
Android 4.3 and Bluetooth 4.0 devices
Please refer to the instructions included with your device
for a detailed explanation of its features.
Your device's compatibility can be tested at http://configu-
ro.elite-it.com, which also includes a list of required addi-
tional devices (should one be needed).

03_HEART-RATE MONITOR*

Digital Smart B+ has no receiver for heart rate monitors to
chest-belts.
It is possible to use a heart rate monitor, but it must be
compatible with the device and the app/software that
displays data. Please check your heart rate monitor and
smartphone/tablet/cycle computer info.
Please verify the features of your heart rate monitor and
the smartphone/tablet/cycle computer for more info about
compatibility.
* Heart rate monitor not included.

04_CADENCE SENSOR*

Digital Smart B+ hometrainer also features an advanced
cadence-measuring system that requires no sensors on
your bicycle.
This is possible thanks to a sophisticated calculation based
on the speed. Since this is not a direct measurement, but
the result of a calculation, in particular situations the
cadence value may not be accurate.
If a more precise measurement is required, an optional
cadence sensor can be connected to the roller. Contact
Elite srl (real@elite-it.com) for further information.
* Cadence sensor not included.

05_READING CADENCE DATA FROM

AN EXTERNAL NON-ELITE SENSOR

Should you decide to install an ELITE external cadence
sensor, you must:
- Follow the instructions found in the sensor package to
connect sensor and magnet to the bicycle;
-Connect the sensor's jack plug to the unit;
