Converting the customer database

553-3001-250 Standard 14.00 August 1996
The customer database on the ST system can be sent to Northern Telecom for
conversion or converted on-site. Note that conversion of the customer
database on-site necessitates system downtime. If you choose to convert the
database on-site, refer to Table 4-2 to determine the appropriate conversion
procedure. The database conversion requires intermediate steps during which
hardware and software are upgraded incrementally.
If you choose to send the database to Northern Telecom for conversion, skip
the rest of this section, "Converting the customer database." After you have
received your converted database from Northern Telecom, proceed to
"Preparing a system for off-site database conversion" on page 4-43.
Before beginning the database conversion procedure, obtain all of the
conversion disks, system software disks, and interim ROM and memory cards
required.
Note: Obtain extra-high-density floppy disks containing system
software from your Northern Telecom representative.
Upgrading the customer database on-site requires some system
downtime. Schedule for this when planning the system upgrade.
Perform the "Preconversion procedure" in Software conversion procedures
(553-2001-320) before beginning one of the following conversion
procedures. During the preconversion procedure, always enter LD 43 using
the source (ST) media.
